While everything is relatively quiet on the “global front,” let’s continue to discuss President Trump. Some of you appear to have been upset with me regarding my criticism of him yesterday. As a former scientist, I find it rather unfathomable and annoying that everyone should choose their side nowadays. It’s almost as if people would be so fragile with their emotions that they could not handle even the search for truth.

I have mentioned before that neither I nor anyone at GnS Economics is here to please you. Our primary responsibility is to provide you with the most reliable forecasts possible. One cannot choose sides and still fulfill this duty effectively

That said, let’s break down my yesterday’s general analysis (worry) on President Trump. In the Weekly Forecasts 4/2025, we noted that:

It has been a trademark negotiation tactic of Donald Trump since the 1980s to shock his opponents in negotiations with preposterous proposition displayed in an aggressive manner. The aim of these have been to force concessions from his negotiation partners. This proved to be a highly successful tactic in many of Donald Trump’s crucial negotiations, like during his financial troubles, and “forced” restructuring of his debts by banks, in the 1990s.

When we apply this concept to the recent developments, something we could call ‘Trump-logic’ appears in some of his actions, while others continue to display deepening erratic behavior driven, most likely, by external pressures.
